About The Event
Emily Stokes began dancing at five years old and was trained by a diverse set of talented teachers in contemporary, hip-hop, ballet, tap, and more. She grew up dancing competitively throughout high school and traveled around the country as a Tremaine Performance Company member and a The Pulse Protege. In college, she became a member of collegiate hip-hop dance teams such as PAC Modern and The G.O.O.D Project where she was either co-captain or choreographing for performances. Eventually, she co-directed a contemporary dance team, The Barefoot Project, and cultivated community through meaningful movement in classes and performances held throughout Southern California. In 2020, Emily decided to take a break from dancing to focus on other aspects of her career and her mental/physical health. Time away from dance allowed Emily to reflect on her identity, her relationship with her body, and with dance. She felt called to dance and teach again in 2023 and in honor of her healing, she has dedicated herself to teaching classes that welcome, motivate, and care for every level, body, and lover of dance.
